I've been struggling to set up/grow social channels at my current workplace (read more here).
They're wanting to push out some content on LinkedIn. I've told them we need no more than 140 characters, including the link (to our website where the full information/document etc. will be held) to avoid the 'read more' cut-off. However, they've gotten back to me saying they want to post "as much as we can" directly on LinkedIn, with the justification that "at least people might read the key messages on the LinkedIn post".
My research and experience suggests we should be avoiding any 'read mores', and posting content that is super short, but engages our audience and prompts them to 'click through'.
But I want to do some homework before I push back - what is your approach to 'read mores' and what's your justification?
TIA.
