Instagram growth stunted after business profile flagged for spam?

I work at a large company with a pretty strong following on all social media channels. We've seen growth of about 500-1000 new followers a day (I know there are better metrics). We're up to about 725,000 followers with engagement around 1-3% on posts.

One thing we do is engage with every single tagged photo, comment, DM, etc. until about 3 weeks ago IG started marking us as spam and would let us post a photo, but not allowing any copy with the post, not letting us like photos or comments or pretty much everything.

We do work in the firearm industry and this has caused issues with us in the past. After trying to go dark for a while and not post anything, we decided to remove the "Business Profile" and move to a regular one, wait a week, and go back to a "Business Profile". This seemed to work. We were able to do everything as we used to. However, ever since switching back on to the "Business Profile" we only see maybe 100-200 followers a day, with a net change anywhere from -100 to +100.

Any insight as to what might be going on? Feel free to ask me as many questions as needed. I do have an image that I can share below of what's going on.
