How to properly utilize IG stories

So I'm not new to growing instagram accounts. I've built and sold off a few accounts and feel good in my specific niche. But I have had one surprise I haven't encountered before.

I have around 1300 followers and currently growing around 200 followers a week organically from explore and sometimes hashtags. My account is ready to pop soon and should be growing quickly over the next two months.

My posts are doing well averaging 10% engagement without hashtags with a so/so post. A few posts recently within the last week have began to do 100-120% engagement, which is expected and planned for. But I've had story posts hit explore like no account I've ever built has done previously.

Some stories I post must be hitting explore. Currently I have a post up for the last 8 hours which has done over 900 views and 400 replies. I have been posting every couple hours on my story and all the posts are following the trend of insane numbers and replies. This isn't the only time my story has gone "viral" but it is largely unpredictable (when compared to feed posts). I am pulling in very few profile visits though, and am trying to come up with a way to draw in explore viewers to visit my page.

So I have two questions:

1. Has anyone else experienced this? It seems instagram has been pushing stories heavy on explore over the last 60-90 days when compared to the first half of the year.
2. Does anyone have any advice on how to draw these story viewers to my page? I have some ideas content wise, but would appreciate any other advice or ideas you may have.

Tl;dr: Story posts are currently doing massive numbers when compared to my follower account (100-200%) Not the first time, but is unpredictable. I need ideas on how to capitalize on these type of moments. Thanks for any advice!
